Wildmon (AFR) vs NBC
Today NBC stations around the country received "sprayed" @mails initiated by Tupelo businessman Donald Wildmon, chairman of the American Family Radio (AFR) group and his lobbying organization, American Family Association (AFA).
Along with actions taken or considered against Ford, American Girl, Readers' Digest and Kraft, Mr. Wildmon is asking his listeners and @mail subscribers to protest the upcoming NBC program "Book of Daniel." All @mails received by KPLC contain similar wording per the letter-writing campaign directive.
The AFA website is excerpted below as a service to our viewers, including solicitations for donations and planned giving to the organization, and links to its merchandise Superstore. Some of the @mails which have been sent to KPLC following AFA's directive come from persons inside the KPLC viewing area, others from outside the local viewing area. All letters are being read and forwarded to NBC, a link to this note sent via return @mail, and the original notes also sent to our public file.
As with all programming on KPLC, we will evaluate content and specific viewer feedback as the programs air. We also encourage parents and guardians to exercise their responsibilities as caretakers to determine what programs are appropriate for viewing in their own homes.
Thanks and regards,

Thank you, Mr. Serra for posting this letter. Please keep our families and children in your heart as you continue to accept or reject network programming. Prime Time and Cartoons have gotten to the point of not only "anti-family", but embarasing to adults and harmful to our children and grandchildren.
Mr. Serra, I have read and re-read your original post and one thing seems to be missing here. You posted information about the entire AFA organization as a smoke screen to cover the fact that you do plan to air this objectionable program.
This entire subject matter is very offensive (or should be) to everyone who lays claim to the title of Christian! I am disappointed in your stand on this matter and in the fact that you have chosen to disregard the pleas of so many of your viewers.
There is a news article presently on the Yahoo! web page about two NBC affiliate stations who have been brave enough to take a stand for decency and refuse to air this program. I had hopes that you would do the same! My trust in KPLC has been severely diminished.

Mr Serra, I am thankful that you have done your job and aired "The Book Of Daniel." As a born-again Christian, I very much enjoyed the pilot episode. The subject matter was no more objectionable than most other dramas. The show did show how religion can be corrupt in spirit, however. Some churches are corrupt in spirit. It's a sad fact, but I think that a vast majority of Christians would acknowledge it.
In my opinion, affiliates should not editorialize and be selective with network programming. I don't understand why anyone would want to deprive viewers of their rightful option of watching NBC programming.
If viewers don't want to watch the show, they don't have to. I resent, however, that anyone would want to deprive me of "The Book Of Daniel." I find it sad these Christian groups work to deprive the public of media that they do not approve of. Organizations like the AFA have put Christianity on the defense with their constant stream of boycotts and other calls to action. Christianity is about victory, power, righteousness, and joy. It is not about complaining about media and the society. If these groups desire for society to be more Christ-like, they should use the time currently spent complaining and boycotting to preach the love of Christ. If more people were brought to a saving knowledge of him, the media they would consume would also change. As a Christian, I understand their thinking, but I think it is flawed. These boycotts and calls to action concerning the media are amazingly predictable and seem very silly at times. Instead of winning hearts for Christ, these annoying boycotts and stream of press releases will most likely further serve to alienate souls from Christ. When these groups fight to keep a show like "The Book Of Daniel" off the air, they show a weakness of faith which contradicts the whole point of faith itself. Christianity is about becoming strong in Christ, and trying to exert undue social and political pressure is not a showing of strength.
In the end, though, I wish to thank you Mr. Serra. You didn't give in to misguided pressure and you rightfully delivered "The Book Of Daniel" to viewers who wished to see it.
Sincerely,
Benjamin Dorsey

I usually don't get involved with political issues regarding the right of KPLC or NBC to air whatever they choose, but in this case of the up and coming episode of Will & Grace on April 13, right before Good Friday, "Cruci-fixin's", I must take a stand on this issue. This would be a mockery of things most of us hold dear at this time, the celebration of the ressurection of our Lord Jesus Christ. I hope the management at KPLC-TV takes this into consideration. This atrocious attack, even meant as humor, is run at prime time, while children are still up at this time. I am opposed to showing this episode in this time frame. If you want to air it, choose a time when kids aren't present. We have enough confusion as it is on what this time of season represents already by ultra conservitive and ultra liberal bickering. Please examine your conscience on this matter.

.. Cancer is difficult and really dangerous illness that kills millions a year. If we can provide any help to save at least some of them- it is always nice Some times people are saying malignancy is incurable. But I have seen a website detailing that holistic treatment can cure Cancer even in 2ndry stage. You can logon to http://www.helpcure.com/cancer and know further.
What ever it is. My personal request to all of you to work and gather information regarding this subject and let others also know further. I can say you millions of people are still on earth suffering from cancers – some of them even doesn’t know what cancer is all about.
Whether this is holistic or allopathic or homeopathic I want to put and end to the sufferings of millions of less fortunate people – My heart sings for them. I request you people also join.
